In order to become culturally and linguistically immersed in Japanese, I studied abroad at Toyo University in Tokyo Japan for a year from September 2015 until August 2016. I also maintained a blog of my experiences will studying at Toyo University at http://9intoyo.weebly.com/
In my time studying and living in Japan, I took not only language and culture courses in Japanese, but took other general credit classes with normal Japanese students. Every day I was surrounded by Japanese language and culture and was made to experience a society outside of the United States.
I was able to visit many Japanese historical landmarks as well and learn a little bit about Japanese history.
I made friendships with regular Japanese students as well as even maintained a part time job for a month during spring vacation, all within a completely Japanese setting.
